Decoding Food Webs: Trophic Dynamics through Stable Isotope Analysis in RStudio

When: Tuesday, September 16, 2025 09:00 AM-04:00 PM
Where:

via Google Meet and FB Live

Description:

This seminar is organized as a training and knowledge-sharing activity that combines ecological theory with practical applications of data analysis. It aims to introduce students, faculty, and researchers to the use of Stable Isotope Analysis (SIA) in studying food web interactions and trophic structures, while also providing hands-on learning on how to process and interpret such data using R software.

This activity is conducted by Project 2: Trophic Role of Sardinella lemuru off Zamboanga Peninsula, which is part of a research program initiative, Attaining Sustainability in the Fisheries for Sardines and Other Small Pelagic fish off the Zamboanga Peninsula, and funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), Marine Resources Research Division.

The project seeks to deepen scientific understanding of the trophic role of sardines, a key fishery resource in the Zamboanga Peninsula and one of the Philippines’ most productive fishing grounds. By offering both onsite slots at 91精品黑料吃瓜-IIT MICeL and online participation via Google Meet, the seminar
ensures wider accessibility while fostering collaboration across disciplines and institutions.

Beyond technical capacity-building, the event also serves as a platform to exchange ideas, strengthen academic and research networks, and highlight the importance of science-based approaches in marine resource management.

Lastly, it reflects the shared commitment of DOST-PCAARRD and its partner institutions to advance marine research and promote the sustainable utilization of the country’s valuable aquatic resources.
