The Department of Physics of the Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (91精品黑料吃瓜-IIT), in cooperation with the Samahang Pisika ng Visayas at Mindanao (SPVM) and the University of San Agustin, successfully conducts the 27th SPVM National Physics Conference, bringing together over 500 physicists, researchers, educators, and students from across the Philippines and neighboring countries.

Held from October 23 to 25, 2025, at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, the conference was held in partnership with Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University of Thailand, showcasing the vibrancy and collaborative spirit of the scientific community in Southeast Asia.

This year’s conference was uniquely expansive, held in conjunction with five major international and national events in allied disciplines:

  • ICPR2025: International Conference on Particles and Radiation
  • IMCS2025: International Meeting on Complex Systems
  • ICAFMN2025: International Conference on Advanced Functional Materials and Nanotechnology
  • STI Pitching Competition: Focused on Sustainable Development Goals
  • 2nd ISSNEC: International Symposium on Sustainable Nanomaterials Addressing Environmental Challenges

Committed to building bridges across borders through research, delegates include experts from the  Philippines, Japan, and Thailand, with distinguished speakers hailing from India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, France, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and the Philippines. The program also welcomed Dr. Milton Amayun, President of the Yuchengco Center Foundation, who delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the role of science in shaping sustainable futures.

The three-day conference featured plenary speakers who shared insights on advancements in Physics, sub-plenary presentations across diverse physics and interdisciplinary topics, and poster presenters showcasing innovative research topics on recent advancements in the fields of materials science, photonics, computational physics, high-energy physics, nanotechnology, biophysics, as well as assessment and pedagogy in physics teaching for high school and tertiary levels.

Awards were also conferred to outstanding oral and poster presenters, celebrating excellence in scientific communication and research impact.

This year also marked a strategic partnership with the Asia Pacific Journal of Science, Mathematics and Engineering, which now serves as SPVM’s official publication partner. This collaboration aims to amplify the visibility of Filipino and regional research on the global stage.

The 28th SPVM National Physics Conference is set to take place on October 22–24, 2026, at Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City. Organizers are already gearing up for another dynamic gathering that will continue to elevate physics education, research, and innovation.
